A beautiful, hand-crafted Tzedakah box was generously donated to the temple in December, 2009, and installed outside the sanctuary. Ken and Mercedes Weiland designed, built and then travelled from their home out of state to install the box for the temple. The couple, along with their children Eric and Stephanie, were members of the temple until moving out of the area a few years ago. Ken also designed the donation envelope holders that adorn the back of the pews.
Tzedakah, which is commonly translated as "charity", fulfills the Jewish tradition of righteous giving and just behavior that ensures the basic well-being of our fellow humans. The temple board and congregation extends thanks to the Weilands for their donation and continuing friendship.
